(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – SSL certificate authority GlobalSign announced on Monday that it had added a Microsoft veteran to its leadership team. Ryan Hurst who formerly worked on Microsoft’s Root Certificate program will assume the position of Chief Technology Officer at GlobalSign.
As a certificate authority, GlobalySign’s services include SSL, data privacy, email encryption and more.
“We are extremely excited to see Ryan join the GlobalSign team. He has earned an incredible reputation in the industry as a recognized security expert, and his experience will immediately help GlobalSign fulfill our goal of providing trusted Digital Certificate solutions to enterprises and partners of all sizes,” stated company CEO Steve Waite regarding the matter in a press release.
Hurst is expected to oversee company responsibilities including product architecture, the company’s vision for technology, compliance, and standards development.
Aside from working with the Microsoft Root Certificate program, Hurst also dealt with biometrics, cryptography and more. Hurst has expressed excitement regarding his new role, referring to GlobalSign as “one of the most credible names in the industry over its many years of delivering PKI solutions.”
Last month, the company rolled out its iOS authentication solution for enterprises to use on devices including the iPhone and iPad.
Hurst’s appointment as CTO occurred a week after the company announced it had appointed former Networking4all CTO Paul van Brouwershaven its new Business Development Director.
