(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – GigaSpaces, a leading provider of TOSCA-based cloud orchestration technologies, led two workshops at OpenStack CEE Day 2015. The event, held this week at the Budapest Music Centre, featured discussions on private and public cloud, devops, storage and network virtualization. GigaSpaces provided partner-level sponsorship of the event.
GigaSpaces presented two sessions:
- “TOSCA in a Box Workshop,” led by Barak Merimovich and Idan Moyal. TOSCA (Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications) is a standard enabling seamless migration of workloads across disparate cloud environments.
- “Real World Hybrid Cloud Orchestration for VMware & OpenStack.” This session explains how TOSCA-compliant orchestration helps IT teams manage applications in heterogeneous or multi-cloud environments.
Both talks deal with TOSCA-based orchestration and the recently expanded collaboration with VMware to include Cloudify with VMware vCloud® Air™. VMware customers using Cloudify now have a common management interface across cloud offerings including vCloud Air, vCenter™ Server, vSphere® and VMware® Integrated OpenStack.
Cloudify enables support for TOSCA (as a portable blueprint) and Docker (as a portable image), so that users can seamlessly migrate workloads across those environments or build a hybrid deployment that runs simultaneously on vCloud Air and OpenStack or vSphere.
About OpenStack CEE Day
OpenStack CEE Day is the largest conference in the CEE region dedicated to the open source cloud technology. The conference presents current OpenStack updates and improvements and gathers the region’s OpenStack users and developers for a showcase of OpenStack deployments. Topics this year included OpenStack news and Kilo release updates, enterprise use cases, training and deep-dive technical sessions featuring Software Defined Networks (SDN) and storage.
OpenStack® is the most widely deployed open source software for building clouds. Enterprises use OpenStack to support rapid deployment of new products, reduce costs and improve internal systems. Service providers use OpenStack to give customers reliable, easily accessible cloud infrastructure resources, supporting technologies including platforms and containers. OpenStack powers clouds for many of the world’s largest brands, including AT&T, Bloomberg, Cisco Webex, Disney, Fidelity and Walmart. Nearly 500 companies and 23,000 individuals across more than 150 countries are supporters of the project.
