Go Daddy Hit with Suit for Hosting ‘Revenge Porn’ Website

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Top domain provider Go Daddy is finding itself is a tricky spot after hosting a controversial website.

According to a report from USA Today on Wednesday, a lawsuit on behalf of Texas 17 women has been brought against the web host regarding the website Texxxan.com where ex-boyfriends leak nude photos of their former significant others.

Commonly called “revenge porn,” the genre has proven controversial, even for the adult entertainment industry.

“These plaintiffs seek to recover their actual damages that include their severe mental anguish and emotional distress with physical manifestations that affect their daily lives and routines, humiliation, fear and other non-economic damages, and also their economic damages,” noted the suit, according to the USA Today report.

Despite any intent to gain from Go Daddy, legal analysts suggest that Go Daddy is likely protected against the suit, citing the Communications Decency Act of 1996 which excuses web hosts from liability regarding the content of their customers.
