(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – What’s up with Google’s Mountain View headquarters? According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, the tech giant is working on some kind of wireless network at the location.
While details were scarce, it is known that Google submitted an application to the FCC regarding the project.
Reportedly in the mix is coverage for what a report from Slashgear.com said were access frequencies accounting for between 2524 to 2625 MHz – something that could cover devices.
The application from the FCC also referred to an “experimental radio service.” However, a report from CNET.com’s Don Reisinger said “don’t get too excited.” According to the news site, a source has confirmed the network is just for testing and may not be open to consumer gadgets after all.
