(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Google is again further looking to expand its offerings beyond core internet services.
According to a report from the Wall Street Journal on Friday, the company is said to be working on an Android-based video game console. In addition to that, a digital wristwatch is rumored to be in the mix.
The move may help Google further compete against sometimes-rival Apple who is also said to be weighing a wristwatch. The Cupertino, California-based company recently applied for the “iWatch” trademark in Japan.
Google’s development of a console device could arrive as the company is expected to release that latest version of its mobile operating system, version 5.0 Key Lime Pie, sometime this fall.
Mobile gaming has been gaming traction. Just earlier this month, research analytics firm NPD released a survey showing that 29% of respondents were “free & mobile gamers,” according to a report from gamesindustry International.
