Google Easter Eggs: Atari Breakout, Zergs & Beyond

googlemagnify1(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – If you thought Google’s recent transformation of image search to celebrate Atari Breakout’s 37th birthday was the first kind of trick the tech giant has come up with, think again: The company has had many Easter Egg hits.

(NOTE: Most of the below may no longer work):

Here we look back at some of the funnest:

-Zergling Rush – This one is simple. Simply type “Zergling Rush” into Google search and whala, your search results will be consumed by attacking letters.

-Find Chuck Norris – Type “Find Chuck Norris” into Google Search via “I’m feeling lucky.” The result? Google says, “Google won’t search for Chuck Norris because it knows you don’t find Chuck Norris, he finds you.” Meanwhile, just wait till you see the suggestions.

-Elgoog – When users typed this in, they found the screens to be reversed (pretty interesting).

-Google Sphere – Here’s another “I’m feeling lucky one” – all the text will spin around.

-Google Gravity – Another I’m feeling lucky that makes Google search have a zero gravity vibe.

-Google Terminal – Typing in “Google Terminal” via I’m feeling lucky used to bring up an old-school Google search format (just think MS-DOS).

-Google Underwater – Another “I’m feeling lucky” easter egg that allowed the screen to transform; giving the page an underwater vibe.
