(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Google’s new introduction of its video “Hangouts” service adds more options to a video streaming market that already includes the likes of Skype.
The company recently unveiled new features for the platform with group conversations (video calls with up to ten friends) and integration with iOS and Android based devices.
Earlier this week, we discussed how the new Hangouts left out one key feature for Gmail: The ability to make calls within the popular e-mail service. In addition to that, it also removed availability statuses – something that was surely a disappointment to many users.
The company has already signaled it’d add the feature back to Gmail within the future.
Aside from Skype, another service Hangouts could compete with is Apple’s Facetime. Let the battle begin!
