For its part, Google acknowledged an issue with its email service with its dashboard.
“We’re experiencing an issue affecting less than 0.5% of the Gmail user base. The affected users are unable to access Gmail. We will provide an update by 5/8/13 4:54 AM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem. Please note that this resolution time is an estimate and may change,” noted the company at 3:54 AM.
By 4:20 AM, Google said it had resolved the issue, apologizing for a 502 error experienced by users in the Middle-East and India.
Google previously experienced downtime with its Gmail service in December when attempting to update its load balancing system.
