Following Google’s announcement that it would discontinue news aggregating platform Google Reader, an alternative offering is on the rise.
The application known as Feedly on Friday noted that it had experienced 500 thousand new users in the two days following the shutdown announcement of Google reader. The service will officially cease to exist come July 1st.
“Our main priorities over the next 30 days are 1) to keep the service up, 2) listen to new users for suggestions and 3) add features weekly,” described Feedly via a blog post.
The company also noted it had multiplied its bandwidth times ten with additional servers to provide for increasing traffic. Feedly is available for platforms including iOS, Android, Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Additional information at http://www.feedly.com/.
