(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – While the age of thirty may still sound young to plenty of us, it probably doesn’t sound too young if it pertains to a computer operating system. This week marked the thirtieth birthday of MS-DOS, the old operating system mostly operated with a command prompt (having to type the memorable C:\…..whatever).
I for one, have mostly fond memories of the OS, entering DOS to install and launch some of my favorite classic computer games. However, in some cases, when I didn’t type the correct command and DOS failed to understand, perhaps those particular memories weren’t as fond. You can find some great information on MS-DOS on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS-DOS
Should we say you’ve aged with grace? Anyhow, here’s tipping our hat to the OS, Happy 30th MS-DOS!
The below video is a clip from a PBS documentary pertaining to Microsoft. It provides some good insight on what eventually lead to MS-DOS’s launch (Q-DOS/86-DOS).
