(Ping! Zine) – According to numerous stories, it seems that the Department of Homeland Security is now seizing websites that commit copyright infringement.
These actions seem to be coming in the wake of Congress trying to pass the controversial Combatting Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA).
The Hill has reported that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) has shut down over 70 domains over the past few days.
The seized websites have all be replaced by a graphic reading: “This domain named has been seized by ICE, Homeland Security Investigations.”
One of the website owners whos site was shut down told TorrentFreak that they seized his website without any notice.
