(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – A couple security attacks have hit web hosts recently. Within the same few days that Australian web host NetRegistry was hit by a DDoS attack, another web host also faced an attack of its own.
On Sunday, InMotion Hosting, a provider of dedicated servers and VPS reported a “defacement attack.” In particular, the web host says that index.php files were hit, resulting in problems for sites hosted by InMotion.
Commenting on the web host’s Support Center, InMotion stated, “We are evaluating how this has occurred and our security team will have more information shortly.”
The web hosting company worked to repair effected index.php files by restoration from backups. For more information on the matter, visit: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/20110925-systems-announcement.html
