(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – The long anticipated solution Google Drive finally hit the market on Tuesday, joining an ever increasing field of personal clouds offered from other providers including Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Dropbox and more.
Discussing the matter in a post on its official blog, Google referred to its solution as “a place where you can create, share, collaborate, and keep all of your stuff.”
Accessing stored content is made available through mobile applications and desktop software known as “Drive.” While an iOS (Apple) version of the mobile app is no yet available, it’s something Google emphasized was being working on.
One primary highlight of the cloud solution includes the platform’s integration with Google Docs. According to the company, this allows clients to “work with others in real time on documents, spreadsheets and presentations.” Like a number of other personal cloud solutions, Google Drive starts off by initially offering 5GB of free storage.
Other features include advanced searching and the ability to work with the company’s social networking platform, Google+.
Different personal cloud solutions have recently hit the market. Just earlier this month, LogMeIn, the popular creator of remote desktop software unveiled its Cubby cloud, giving users the ability to turn already existing desktop folders into cloud storage space.
