(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Google is launching a new defense in the battle against one of the most pesky things online, malware.
The company announced the move today, saying that some users will see a message that reads, “It appears that your computer is infected with software that intercepts your connection to Google and other sites” at the top of their Google search engine. Google then provides users with information on how to fix the problem.
Google said it made the move upon discovering strange traffic during some of its data center maintenance which it later determined was due to malware on infected computers.
In a blog post concerning the matter, Google stated, “We hope that by taking steps to notify users whose traffic is coming through these proxies, we can help them update their antivirus software and remove the infections.”
