(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – iOS 6.1.3 has arrived – and some proponents of jailbreaking probably won’t like it. According to a report from CNET on Wednesday, the latest Apple mobile OS deals a blow to the popular Evasi0n Jailbreak, correcting a previous glitch.
“Fixes a bug that could allow someone to bypass the passcode and access the Phone app,” says Apple when highlighting the bug fix via its support page. In addition to that, CNET noted the update also “patched” a number of other gaps allowing what CNET described as the “untethered jailbreak.”
Jailbreaking iPhones is popular and allows users to install and run applications initially noted supported through iOS. In addition to the above, iOS 6.1.3 also features improvements for Maps in Japan.
Coincidentally enough, Apple actually directly credited Evasi0n’s developers for helping uncover security gaps.
