(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Apple’s next operating system is expected to add a new functionality to the iPad that many users have been asking for , a split-screen option.
According to 9to5mac, citing sources “with knowledge of the enhancement in development,” iOS 8 will enable users to run multiple apps simultaneously, a move that many of Apple’s competitors have been offering.
Sources also noted that with the new feature, users will be able to drag text, video, and images from one app to another.
The split-screen feature is said to work exclusively in landscape mode for the 9.7-inch iPad. It is unclear if this will work on smaller iPads such as the Mini.
Other rumored additions to iOS 8 include improvements to iCloud and Maps, as well as the addition of the Healthbook app and the removal of the Game Center.
Apple will unveil iOS 8 at the Worldwide Developers Conference next month.
