(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – It’s getting closer and closer to the time of year where Apple debuts a new iPhone.
Not surprisingly, rumors about the upcoming device’s tech specs have run rampant online. Most say Apple is readying an iPhone 5S and will offer it in a variation of different colors.
The best indication when the smartphone could be on its way may lie with Chinese-based supplier Foxconn, though. According to a report from China Business News (per CNET), the manufacturer has started a hiring spree to help with the production of the “iPhone 6.” And while we’re guessing it likely won’t be called the iPhone 6, (considering Apple’s release history), our best bet is on an “iPhone 5S” name.
That’s not to say we’ll be surprised if the Cupertino tech giant shakes things up. At last month’s WWDC event, Apple did finally move away from labeling its releases of OS X “cat-like” names like Puma, Lion, Jaguar and Leopard – instead opting to refer to OS X 10.9 as “Mavericks.”
The iPhone 5 was initially released last September.
