(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Is the availability of video streaming service Netflix actually helping cut down on illegal file sharing? That idea was recently implied by company Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos.
“One of the things is we get ISPs to publicise their connection speeds – and when we launch in a territory the Bittorrent traffic drops as the Netflix traffic grows,” Sarandos recently stated in an interview from Stuff.TV.
Sarandos doesn’t believe that dealing with the matter “legislatively or criminally” is a good route. Instead, he noted it should be addressed by providing “good options.”
Meanwhile, Sarandos also discussed a new season Arrested Development along with adding more content in the fascinating interview from Stuff.TV.
Torrentting on a global scale has proven to be one of the most notorious approaches for illegally sharing files.
