(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Data center and hosting provider Latisys discussed a major expansion at four of the company’s sites on Monday along with rolling out its new cloud solution.
The expansion concerns the build out of three data centers in areas including Northern Virginia, Chicago and Southern California. However, one of the largest parts of the plan will come with a new 23 thousand square foot facility in Denver, Colorado. All projects are set for completion in the fourth quarter of this year.
Along with making the announcement, the colocation provider cited “increasing enterprise demand for managed and cloud infrastructure services.” Meanwhile, the company’s new cloud solution (simply called The Latisys Cloud) features a self-service portal along with rapid provisioning. Costs for the platform are based on a “pay-as-you-go” model.
In a press release regarding the matter, Latisys CEO Pete Stevenson discussed his company’s role in the IT market. “There is no longer a commodity relationship between suppliers and buyers of IT. Latisys’ mission is to be a true builder and broker of IT solutions – from colo to cloud – that enable our enterprise customers to rapidly deploy IT solutions optimized to scale to meet current and future business requirements,” stated Stevenson.
The revelation of the expansion efforts by Latisys follows an announcement earlier this month in which the company said it had completed a variety of audits related to its U.S. data centers. Among its offerings, services by Latisys include server virtualization, managed servers, VPN, backup and more.
