(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Could users of Facebook find themselves hauling in cash? Possibly.
On Friday, many users of the social site received an email regarding the settlement of a class action lawsuit pertaining to how featured stories are displayed via the website.
The settlement was reached in October after Facebook reportedly used users’ likeness without their permission through sponsored content.
To right the wrong, Facebook is preparing to place $20 million in a fund which will be provided to users who were violated via the social network’s actions. Those qualified will receive just $10 per person.
However, if you want in on the small amount of cash, it’ll take some initiative: Users must file a claim via fraleyfacebooksettlement.com. Meanwhile, it’s important to note that if you do decide to exclude yourself from the settlement, you can still file your own lawsuit.
