(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – As a cautionary action, the Linux Foundation (a site dedicated to Linux support) has temporarily brought down its website in the wake of a recent attack by hackers.
According to a posted statement, the Linux Foundation detected an intrusion on the eighth of this month. Kernel.org was recently attacked as well, and the foundation believes the attacks are linked.
Portion of the statement says, “We are in the process of restoring services in a secure manner as quickly as possible. As with any intrusion and as a matter of caution, you should consider the passwords and SSH keys that you have used on these sites compromised.”
Meanwhile, the site is asking users to reset passwords that may pertain to use on the site. Aside from apologizing for any inconvenience and working to restore service, the Linux Foundation reports that users’ Linux.com email addresses remain unaffected.
The Linux Foundation was launched as a non-profit in 2007 and provides support for the OS.
