(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – The blockbuster hit, The Hunger Games, will soon be receiving a mobile game app based off of the award winning franchise.
The social, card-collection mobile app is set to be made by Kabam, the company that made games from hits such as The Hobbit, Fast & Furious, and The Godfather, VentureBeat reports.
In the mobile game, users will take on the role of a member of the District as they are sent on missions to build their alliance and rebuild Panem.
“We are so pleased to be working with Kabam to give the fans an experience like they have never had before,” said Lionsgate’s executive vice president of Digital Media, Danielle DePalma. “Being able to role-play with the mentors straight from the world of The Hunger Games will let fans feel as if they are in the middle of the action.”
Kabam will produce the game at its studio in China, where The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth was built.
Due to The Hobbit and The Fast & Furious mobile game, the company made more than $360 million in revenue last year, and is projecting revenue of $550 million in 2014.
A release date has not been announced yet, though Lionsgate and Kabam expect to drop the app near the release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 in November.
