(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – If you’re on Android, watch out! Malware is becoming more widespread. According to Lookout Security, so far this year, nearly half a million Android-users faced malware on their mobile devices.
In fact, the firm states, “Android users are two and a half times as likely to encounter malware today than 6 months ago and three out of ten Android owners are likely to encounter a web-based threat on their device each year.”
That’s a pretty large increase. It also gives more reasons for mobile users to pay closer attention to security issues regarding their devices.
To retrieve its findings, Lookout Security relied on a database of applications in its Mobile Threat Network. The firm also pointed out that more and more people are using mobile devices to pay bills. This represents an elevated risk for mobile users.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to watch how security increases as more and more people switch to using smart phones and tablets. For more information, visit: https://www.mylookout.com/mobile-threat-report
