(Ping! Zine) – Lookout Mobile Security recently said that it has discovered the nastiest threat to mobile phones yet.
Named Geinimi, the Android Trojan has spread through China and is capable of attaining personal data and sending it to remote servers.
According to cnet, Lookout stated in a blog post on Wednesday that “Geinimi is effectively being ‘grafted’ onto repackaged versions of legitimate applications, primarily games, and distributed in third-party Chinese Android app markets. The affected applications request extensive permissions over and above the set that is requested by their legitimate original versions.”
Lookout also claimed that the Trojan is the most sophisticated wireless malware to date.
As of now, the malware has only been found in programs on numerous Chinese app stores.
