Mario Kart 8 Nintendo Direct Reveals New Details, Free Wii U Game and Characters Discussed (Ping! Zine Web Tec Magazine) – Nintendo released a new 36 minute Nintendo Direct video today focusing on the upcoming racing game, Mario Kart 8, with details about gameplay, characters, items, and gaming offers.

The Japanese based company revealed in a press release that Mario Kart 8 will have an online multiplayer option for up to 12 people in four different multiplayer modes.

Players will be able to voice chat with one another in the lobby area using the Wii U GamePad microphone, as well as creating public or private tournaments where you will be able to set your own place, time, and rules.

Two new playable characters make their debut in the game, Pink Gold Peach, as a counterpart to Metal Mario, and Baby Rosalina.

Items are what make the game so interesting, and Nintendo has added two new exciting items to try, a Super Horn and Crazy Eight.

Super Horn blows items fired at you away, such as Blue and Red shells, while Crazy Eight randomly selects eight different items that you can play one by one.

Additionally, the video confirmed the Wii U bundle that is releasing May 30th. The $329.99 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Set bundle includes a Wii U Deluxe Set system, red Mario Wii Wheel and Remote Plus controller, and a copy of the game.

Players who purchase the interactive digital game and sign up with Club Nintendo by July 31st will receive a Nintendo eShop download code for a free Wii U game from the following titles: New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, and Wii Party U.

Mario Kart 8 will be released on May 30th.
