Mayer Pushes Yahoo! to Focus on Personalization

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Over two months after assuming the helm at Yahoo, company CEO Marissa Mayer is increasingly making her mark on the Internet content provider.

Mayer most recently spoke about the company’s ambitions during a gathering held at Yahoo!’s URL’s Café, and according to a report from All Things D, the former Google employee emphasized personalization.

The report highlighted a number of initiatives including partnerships, mobile availability, “core competencies,” and most importantly, Meyer’s goal to make Yahoo! “a part of users’ everyday routines.”

While still noted for online popularity and content services, Yahoo! has struggled to find its place in a web dominated by other presences including Google and Facebook. When she accepted the spot in July, Meyer said she looked “forward to working with the Company’s dedicated employees to bring innovative products, content, and personalized experiences to users and advertisers all around the world.”

At the age of 37, the Yahoo! CEO is considered the youngest exec of a Fortune 500 company, according a CNNMoney report. During her time at Google, she played an instrumental role in helping shape some of her former company’s most applauded web content.
