(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – After just five months on the job, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella is changing the corporate mission of “devices and services” set by Steve Ballmer to a “productivity and platform company for the mobile-first and cloud-first world.”
In an email sent to all Microsoft employees earlier today, Nadella discusses strategy changes by stating that the company will focus on dialogue about “bold ambition” and “core focus” during the month of July.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Nadella also said he plans on helping users be “more productive in work and life” with tools such as computers and its new digital mobile assistant, Cortana.
Additionally, he also used the memo to discuss the future of the Xbox, a unit that many investors have been urging to eliminate.
“The single biggest digital life category, measured in both time and money spent, in a mobile-first world is gaming. We are fortunate to have Xbox in our family to go after this opportunity with unique and bold innovation. Microsoft will continue to vigorously innovate and delight gamers with Xbox,” said the CEO. “Bottom line, we will continue to innovate and grow our fan base with Xbox while also creating additive business value for Microsoft.”
On July 22nd, Microsoft’s earning results for the last quarter will be released, along with a discussion about what the company will do in FY15.
