(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Microsoft’s newest operating system, Windows 9, is set to be unveiled at the company’s annual Build Conference in April, reports Windows blogger, Paul Thurrott.
Codenamed “Threshold”, the system will bring all of Microsoft’s OS platforms together, including the Xbox One, Windows, and Windows Phone.
The popular Start menu feature is also included in the new operating system.
“This is the release my sources previously pegged as being the one that will see the return of the Start menu and the ability to run Metro-style apps on the desktop alongside desktop applications,” writes Thurrott in his blog.
In order to “distance itself from the Windows 8 debacle,” Microsoft is believed to rename the system to Windows 9.
Although the reveal of “Threshold” is rumored for April 2014, a release isn’t expected till a year later in April 2015.
