(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Microsoft’s big media event is tomorrow where the tech giant is expected to reveal its new operating system, Windows 9 during a tech preview.
Recent rumors swirling around the web suggest that Microsoft will make Windows 9 free to all Windows 8 users, though it is unknown if that would include Windows 7 users.
Indonesian online news site Detik reported that Microsoft’s president of its Indonesia division, Andreas Diantoro, reportedly confirmed the news, BGR reports.
The OS will feature the return of the Start menu, Metro apps that can be ran in a window, Notification Center, virtual desktop features, the removal of the Charms bar, new cloud integration, the integration of Microsoft’s digital voice assistant Cortana, and various UI changes.
There is much speculation on when the OS will be available to the general public, with many believing it will hit tablets, phones, and computers in April 2015. Recently documents obtained by Myce.com show that the Windows 9 Preview is schedule for a Q2-Q3 2015 release. If this leak is correct then it could be around the holidays next year until we can get our hands on the new OS.
