Microsoft Unveils Cloud-based Xbox Music Service

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Microsoft, on Monday, made a major foray into the world of music streaming, announcing the launch of Xbox Music, a platform that will allow users to complete a number of tasks.

Among the features are free streaming via Windows 8 and RT, an Xbox Music Store allowing users to purchase audio, cloud storage, social capabilities and more.

“The launch of Xbox Music is a milestone in simplifying digital music on every type of device and on a global scale,” commented Microsoft president of the Interactive Entertainment Business Don Mattrick in a press release.

Mattrick also emphasized synchronization among user devices including tablets, PCs, televisions and phones.

Microsoft called the catalog of its music store “on par with iTunes.” The Windows-developer has notably struggled in the area of digital audio as compared to rival Apple.
