(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Microsoft will unveil its new Windows 9 operating system at a special event later this month in San Francisco, announced the company last Monday.
According to PCAdvisor, the tech giant is expected to unveil the Windows 9 beta at the event as a “technical preview,” though there is no official word on this speculation.
“Join us to hear what’s next for Windows and the enterprise,” reads the invite that was sent out last week.
The OS will feature the return of the Start menu, Metro apps that can be ran in a window, Notification Center, virtual desktop features, the removal of the Charms bar, new cloud integration, the integration of Microsoft’s digital voice assistant Cortana, and various UI changes.
There is much speculation on when the OS will be available to the general public, with many believing it will hit tablets, phones, and computers in April 2015. Recently documents obtained by Myce.com show that the Windows 9 Preview is schedule for a Q2-Q3 2015 release. If this leak is correct then it could be around the holidays next year until we can get our hands on the new OS.
