(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Microsoft’s Build Conference officially kicked off on Wednesday where they made some big announcements concerning Windows Phone 8.1.
The mobile voice assistant Cortana will be making its debut on the new operating system where it will replace the current Bing search function that’s on Windows Phone, ZDnet reports.
Cortanta will be integrated with Skype and other Microsoft apps, and will also be available to third-party developers so they can integrate with the assistant.
Also announced on Wednesday is the addition of a notification center, Datasense and Wi-Fi sense, and the ability to customize the lock screen with user selected background images.
Additionally, Internet Exploreer 11, VPN support, mobile-device management customizability, certificate management, and S/MIME mail support is supported in the new update.
Microsoft’s new operating system will be available for existing Windows Phones starting around May or June.
