(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Last week Mojang released new details concerning update 1.8 of the PC edition of Minecraft, revealing new bug fixes and improvements in the update.
“We’re starting to wind down our development cycle, and as such we’re now focusing on bug fixing for a smooth release,” says Mojang’s “Dinnerbone.” “This weeks snapshot comes with a bunch of fixed bugs, some more optimization and only minimal featurecreep.”
Snapshot 14w31a adds a number of adjustments such as fixes to the potion effect status, door textures, TNT explosions, fire change sound, zoomed out maps, daylight sensors, and UTF-8 domaine name support.
According to the developer, notable changes include:
- Experimental: Mob pathfinding is threaded
- Rabbits have sounds!
- The surface of the sun is no longer incorrectly made of cheese.
There is no word yet on when update 1.8 will be released, but keep checking Mojang’s site, as they post weekly snapshots containing bug fixes to the update.
