(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – New details about the upcoming Minecraft: PS4 Edition has been released following Sony’s E3 conference earlier this week.
Mojang’s chief word officer, Owen Hill, has confirmed the new version will make full use of the Dualshock 4’s “unique features” by allowing players to “navigate all menus (and craft) by using the touchpad and, of course, share and stream your experiences thank to Playstation 4’s built-in social thingymabobs.”
Players who purchased the PS3 version will be able to upgrade to the new edition for only $4.99 instead of paying full price, allowing for PS3 worlds to transfer to the PS4 version.
“Making old saves compatible with the newer versions of the game was priority for Mojang and our trusted developer chums at 4J. We value the loyalty of the Sony fans who bought Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition last year, and want to make things as simple as possible for any early adopters,” says Hill via PlayStation blog.
Minecraft: PS4 Edition is set to be released this August, with Trophies and Sony-exclusive DLCs following shortly after.
