(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – The release of Minecraft for the Xbox One is very close to being ready says Microsoft Game Studios VP, Phil Spencer.
At the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco earlier this month, Spencer told IGN that the Xbox One edition is “really close” to being ready for release but is ultimately up to Minecraft’s developers.
“I talked to [4J Studios] last night,” said Spencer. “They feel really good about the progress that they’re making. It’s their game, and it’d be Mojang’s game. We graciously host it on our platform.”
“They’re a full-fledged developer in every sense. They control the [release] date of that, but I’ll tell people that we’re getting really close. I talked with Notch [aka Mojang founder Markus Persson] last night, and they’re really excited about the quality.”
The developers have yet to hint about an Xbox One release date, but many speculate that it will be released at E3 this coming June.
Minecraft for PS4 was announced in August 2013 but no other details have emerged from Sony or the developers regarding its release.
