(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – If you’re a Minecraft fan, then this will surely interest you, a Minecraft opera!
A group of 30 students, instructors, and performers from Virginia Tech have come together to perform the first ever Minecraft opera.
The performance features the actions of Minecraft characters, as they are controlled by a group of high school students while Virginia Tech’s music majors sing a musical piece by Mozart, reports Polygon.
Over the past year, the team has been continuously working on writing the story and music for the opera, as well as matching the movements of the characters mouths to the singer’s voices.
Since the university’s Cube space, where the performances were held, only hold 100 people, assistant professor of voice, Arianna Wyatt, decided to stream the show live, via Livestream.
The first performance was held on Wednesday, December 4th at 7:30 p.m. ET, and the second performance will take place on Saturday, December 7th at 2 p.m. ET.
Below is the video from Wednesday’s performance, and Saturday’s show can be watched live on Livestream at 2 p.m. ET.
