Mozilla Firefox OS Phones Disclosed

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – New details surrounding mobile devices running Firefox OS have been revealed, a ZDNet report signaled on Tuesday.

The first aim appears to be mobile developers which will be relied upon for application development.

Retail versions are expected at later dates. The phones themselves are called ‘Keon’ and Peak’. They come from companies including Telefonica and Geekphone.

Mozilla previously discussed its Firefox OS platform earlier this month during CES 2013 – held in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the time, a developer showcased the OS featuring a welcome screen displaying the time and the ability for users to unlock their phone or take pictures.

Firefox OS is based on HTML5 and will be provided through wireless companies such as Sprint and Deutsche Telekom.
