(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Mozilla, popular maker of the Firefox web browser found itself pulling a 360 after following an issued update for version sixteen. According to a report from the BBC, the company was forced to remove the update following the discovery of a security vulnerability.
In a blog post made available through Mozilla’s security blog, company Director of Security Assurance Michael Coates noted the issue “could allow a malicious site to potentially determine which websites users have visited and have access to the URL or URL parameters.”
The Firefox developer had reversed course just one day after initially launching the latest version. The company offered the chance for users to downgrade to version 15.0.1 as what it called a “precaution.”
An altered version is expected to hit soon and Mozilla will switch users over automatically. Firefox is one of the web’s most popular web browsers along with others including Google’s Chrome and Internet Explorer.
