(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – A relic from the days of Napster will soon depart this world. According to a report from TIME on Thursday, the formerly popular MP3 player known as Winamp will become unsupported by owner AOL on December 20th.
Originally developed by Nullsoft, AOL previously acquired Winamp all the way back in 1999.
Many critics would argue that Winamp played an integral role in the foundation of the digital music revolution that shortly preceded the launch of the Apple iPod.
You may remember that Winamp was customizable with a number of skins and featured the tagline, “Winamp, it really whips the llama’s ass.”
