(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Domain name registrar and web host Namecheap today announced the new version of email hosting platform OX App Suite. With this new overhaul, the interface has been updated to be more intuitive and easier to use–all without installation. Additionally, the design is device independent, so it can run without issue on any platform, be it a tablet, a mobile phone, or a PC. With the newly launched OX App Suite, everything is now available with just one click.
“Our upgrade to a private cloud email system, powered by Open-Xchange, provides our customers with enhanced functionality. Namecheap customers can do more than simply manage their email; with the App Suite document editor, file sharing and collaboration tools they can manage all their data. And with our secure, private cloud infrastructure, small businesses benefit from enhanced privacy. This underlines our Namecheap philosophy to always putting our customers first,” stated Matt Russell, Vice President, Hosted Services, Namecheap.
“Namecheap is a SaaS pioneer in the U.S. hosting industry, continuously looking for best-of-breed solutions that provides their customers with additional value beyond domain registration and hosting”, says Rafael Laguna, CEO of Open-Xchange. “In comparison to the “Hotel California” that the large internet giants provide – i.e. easy to check-in, but no way to check out – Namecheap provides their users with a trustworthy and open home for their digital life.”
OX App Suite launches with entirely custom features specific to how Namecheap is positioned in their market, including:
- Document View – this is a document viewer that gives readers the ability to preview text, spreadsheets, presentation files, and media files from within the OX App Suite interface, and will choose the best preview format depending on the user’s device. It supports docx, doc, odt, txt, rtf, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx, and the many different media files.
- OX Text – this is a cloud based and real time collaborative editor for text documents (docx, doc, odt, txt, rtf) with versioning support
- OX Drive – with Drive, your files can be synchronized across your various devices to the OX File Storage system on the cloud.
Namecheap users can upgrade their subscription from any old plan to any new plan for free during the first two months of the promotion (January 24-March 24). Existing users can use their old subscriptions as well and they will be able to add mailboxes and edit aliases. The old web interface will be supported until December 31, 2014.
