Naughty Dog Developers Pushing For Uncharted 4 To Feature 1080p, 60fps On The PS4

Naughty Dog Developers Pushing For Uncharted 4 To Feature 1080p, 60fps On The PS4(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – The developers at Naughty Dog are aiming for its next project, Uncharted 4, to run at 1080p/60fps.

In an interview with Eurogamer, community strategist Arne Meyer explained that the work done on The Last of Us: Remastered helped the developers to understand the PS4’s engine so that future games could have 60fps.

“A lot of it was because we could try something out on our PS4 engine,” said Meyer. “How far can we do it? Can we do a 1080p, 60fps game? We always wanted to do that, but for the types of effects we wanted to put on screen 720p30 was just fine. Now with the push to go even further that’s not fine enough. So we’re trying to rise to meet that kind of challenge too.”

“I think that’s what we want to push for with anything we’re doing on this generation. That’s sort of the mandate from when we were building the PS4 engine. Let’s see if we can do this and hit it. We hit it with The Last of Us Remastered, so why not stick with this?”

Meyer also noted that he thinks older games such as Uncharted 2,3 and the Last of Us  would be successful if remade to feature 1080p/60fps.

“It’d be nice to give players the opportunity to go back and play the older games, and people who are new to the PlayStation platform. I think that’d be great – but I have no idea how that could fall into our timeline.”

“We’ll have to see. You know, I’d like to see it, and Shu [Yoshida] would like to see it too.”

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is set to be released sometime next year for the PS4.
