Navy Seals Seeking Increased Bandwidth

(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Newfound interest in U.S. Navy special forces due to the recent demise of terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden has resulted in an increase of traffic for the U.S. Navy’s special operations page SEALSWCC.com. The result is a need for increased bandwidth to ensure that the site can handle such high volumes of visitors.

In a solicitation released by the Navy on government site FedBizOpps.gov, the navy stated that it’s looking for, “an enhanced Web hosting contract that allows for increased bandwidth, with room for fluctuating growth and enhanced networking equipment.”

While noting the increase in traffic, the solicitation went on to state, “The current steady state Web hosting contract is not adequate to ensure proper uptime of SEALSWCC.com.”

The Navy is giving interested web hosting services until May 26 to contact them if interested.
