(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – New processors specifically designed in mind for dedicated hosts were recently unveiled by chip manufacturer AMD. The platform featuring the new AMD Opteron 3200 Series processor provides hosts with two options: 4-core and 8-core CPUs.
“In today’s economic environment, dedicated hosting providers need their data centers to become profit centers faster than ever,” commented AMD Commercial Business Corporate VP & GM Patrick Patla in a press release regarding the matter.
Patla continued, “With the new AMD Opteron™ 3000 Series platform, Web and Cloud customers no longer have to compromise with desktop-class platforms in order to hit certain price points. Now they have all the benefits of a true server-class product at desktop-class price points.”
Other features of the processors include a base frequency of 2.7 GHz which is expandable to 3.7 GHz. Meanwhile, the processors have already been shipped and are available through tech companies including Dell, Fujitsu and more.
