(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – While all the recent news regarding Yahoo! may focus on the company’s purchase of Tumblr for $1.1 billion, the company did something else pretty significant recently: It revamped photo hosting service Flickr.
Yahoo! announced the move via its new blog at Tumblr.com.
“Photos tell the stories — stories we’re inspired to relive, share with our friends, or capture simply to express ourselves. Collecting these moments is a part of our everyday. Since 2005, Flickr has become synonymous with inspiring imagery. Today, we’re thrilled to take Flickr even further with a beautiful, completely re-imagined experience that puts photos front and center,” stated company CEO Marissa Mayer.
In addition to the fresh look (which we happen to really like), Yahoo! also noted it was offering users 1 free terabyte of space – something that has the potential to let them store over 500 thousand photos each. Check out the new look via a YouTube video below:
