No Intentions For Yearly Grand Theft Auto Release Says Take-Two CEO

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Grand Theft Auto 5 players may want to take their time with the game because it doesn’t seem as if a new installment will be released anytime soon.

In an interview with MCV UK, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that the company has no intentions of releasing a yearly title of its widely popular motor theft vehicle game .

“It is great that consumers anticipate our titles, like they anticipate the next James Bond film. Our goal is to create permanent franchises,” Zelnick said.

“A few years ago, we’d launch a title, it would be sold physically, then we would sell catalogue versions of it. Today we launch a title, and often – if not always – put out DLC. We’ve talked about recurrent consumer spending, where we have offerings where fans can engage and spend money on an on-going basis.”

GTA 5 has sold more than 32.5 million units since its release last year, making it one of the fastest selling games in history.
