(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Microsoft’s new operating system update is set to be released next week and it looks like Nokia’s Lumia smartphones may be the first ones to receive the highly anticipated update.
According to GMANews, Windows product definition and design head, Joe Belfiore, released a Twitter post stating,” WP 8.1 sw is finished for the Lumia phones that started shipping a couple weeks ago.. and we’re testing the update code now. Fixes ongoing.”
The Lumia 635, 630, and 930, announced during Microsoft’s annual Build developer conference in April, are some of the first smartphones to feature 8.1, CNet reports.
Pre-orders are now available for the Lumia 635 in the UK, and it is expected to make its way to the U.S. this summer for $179 without a contract.
Windows Phone 8.1 will add many new features including SMS search, an action center, personalized Live Tiles, updated calendar, the integration of Skype to the phone dialer, a word flow keyboard that learns your writing style, and Cortana, the digital personal assistant.
