(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – A reduced price on HP’s TouchPad lead to high sales after the tech company recently announced it was discontinuing the webOS-based device. Now it appears that sales have been so good, HP is looking to continue TouchPad distribution just a bit longer by producing one last round of the tablet computer. So, if you didn’t have luck scoring a reduced-price TouchPad the first time, here’s to second chances!
HP recently confirmed the news via a blog post. Despite the development, HP admits, “We don’t know exactly when these units will be available or how many we’ll get, and we can’t promise we’ll have enough for everyone. We do know that it will be at least a few weeks before you can purchase.”
Originally, the HP TouchPad had gone for around $399 and up, that is until many retailers slashed prices to around $99 dollars following HP’s announcement that it was discontinuing the product.
Besides dropping support for TouchPad, HP also ended support for webOS phones. In the meantime, HP has stated that the company “will continue to explore options to optimize the value of webOS software going forward.” For more information, visit: http://h20435.www2.hp.com/t5/The-Next-Bench-Blog/More-TouchPads-on-the-Way/ba-p/68749
