(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Open-Xchange, maker of messaging, collaboration and office productivity software, today announced software connectors to integrate the company´s web desktop software OX App Suite with hosting management software cPanel and WHMCS.
Integration of Open-Xchange with cPanel and WHMCS makes deployment and billing of Open-Xchange simple for service providers and customers. Web hosters can offer Open-Xchange to their shared-hosting customers, as well as to users of Virtual Private Servers just by installing a software package together with cPanel. cPanel users can use their familiar cPanel interface to add, change and remove OX App Suite users.
Existing customers can easily switch from simple webmail user interfaces such as Atmail, Horde, Roundcube and SquirrelMail to the modern OX App Suite interface, giving them access to advanced email, calendar, contact and task management along with advanced collaboration features, browser-based office productivity, document sharing and social network integration.
“This move makes a lot of sense for Open-Xchange,” said Liam Eagle, analyst, Internet infrastructure at 451 research. “cPanel is a widely used platform in the web hosting space, particularly in the U.S., and integration is an important step for software vendors addressing that market. Simplifying the integration process removes a major adoption barrier for hosts, and positions OX App Suite as a likely partner candidate for hosts looking to deliver cloud applications to their customers.”
“As pure webhosting becomes a commodity, service providers have to look for additional services and applications that improve customer retention and fuel further growth of their business,” said Rafael Laguna, CEO of Open-Xchange. “Our integration with cPanel and WHMCS ensures that service providers will roll out OX App Suite quickly and easily. This helps them grow their SaaS portfolio, boost customer loyalty and drive ARPU – without adding new business processes or changing existing ones.”
“Open-Xchange continues to develop integrations with cPanel and WHM. We are very excited to have them at the upcoming cPanel Conference in New Orleans. Integrations with cPanel and WHM provide opportunities for hosting providers to extend functionality, combat churn, and strengthen relationship with customers,” said Aaron Phillips, Vice President of Operations, cPanel.
Automated provisioning and billing
Tight integration between cPanel, WHMCS and OX App Suite allows the automated delivery of services and bundles to hosting customers and streamlines management and billing. Whether service providers operate OX App Suite themself or acquire a reseller account from partner wholesalers, full integration requires only the account credentials from the WHMCS module.
Hosters can decide how OX App Suite services are presented and marketed to users. They can select a freemium-based model or create their individual own up-sell bundles. OX App Suite gives them maximum flexibility – and WHMCS and cPanel supports them to manage and bill the options they choose.
Integration with WHMCS automates billing for OX App Suite and associated value added services. WHMCS generates invoices and payment reminders using customizable templates. In addition, it supports multiple currencies and tax regulation frameworks and is fully compatible with 75 payment gateways.
The integration of OX App Suite into cPanel and WHMCS will be presented to the service provider industry at OX Summit in Hamburg, Germany, September 26 and at cPanel Conference in New Orleans, LA, September 30 to October 2.
