Oracle Invests in Cloud, Unveils Strategy

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – On Wednesday, tech database provider Oracle rolled out what the company referred to as “the industry’s broadest and most advanced Cloud strategy.” The move itself was announced by Larry Ellison, CEO of the company.

The platform encompasses three cloud areas: platform services, application services and social services.

Oracle Cloud Platform Services will provide for a wide range of capabilities allowing users to better deploy applications via the cloud. Such features allow administrators to build using PHP, compatibility with HTML5 mobile, documents services and much more.

Contained within the company’s Application Services platform are features related to company resources such as talent management, marketing, customer experience and ERP. Meanwhile, the company’s Social Service allow for enterprise management via collaboration tools, data services, social marketing and media.

“Most cloud vendors only have niche assets. They don’t have platforms to extend. Oracle is the only vendor that offers a complete suite of modern, socially-enabled applications, all based on a standards-based platform,” commented Ellison when emphasizing the launch in a press release.
