(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Apple’s launch of OS X Mavericks late last month is off to a fast start. According to a report from Computer World on Friday, statistics from Net Applications showed that the operating system had already been downloaded on 10.9% of Apple computers.
Mavericks, which was originally launched on October 22nd, features new notification settings, a revamped version of Safari, improved system battery life and more multi-screen functionality.
The launch of the latest version of OS X represents a stunning increase compared to previous Mac operating systems. Its predecessor, OS X Mountain Lion, accounted for just 4% of Macs within its first ten days. However, that could be due to Apple making Mavericks free as the Cupertino-tech giant previously charged for users to download Mountain Lion.
Apple’s launch of Mavericks arrived on the same day that the company unveiled new product offerings including the iPad Air.
